Our magazine is a venture by two journalists who believe that there is a space for not only in-depth but nuanced story telling in Pakistan’s media. Stories that focus on people and communities and how they are impacted by larger government policy.

Co-Founders

Amel Ghani

Managing Editor

Amel has worked for several years with prominent Pakistani news outlets, including Herald magazine, The News on Sunday and the Express Tribune. While working as a journalist, she not only did in-depth reporting on diverse issues such as environment, real estate and religious politics but also handled many important editorial and social media assignments. For the last three years, Amel has been working in the media development sector, mainly as a trainer and facilitator for journalists on various issues including gender sensitive reporting, misinformation and digital security.

Muhammad Badar Alam

Chief Editor

Badar has been a journalist since 1992. He worked as the editor of Herald magazine, Pakistan’s premier current affairs magazine, from June 2010 to July 2019 – until the magazine was forced to close down as a punishment for its independent editorial policy and fearless reporting. He then co-founded loksujag.com, an independent digital news media outlet dedicated to public interest investigative journalism, and worked as its chief editor between April 2020 and November 2022. He has also worked as a bureau chief, a reporter, a foreign correspondent and a deputy editor for different news outlets. He, similarly, has vast experience in journalism training and research.
